Let's talk about poop, baby!

Ahhh... potty training! Such a fun task, right? My little man turned the big t-h-r-e-e on Sunday and has been on a potty training streak! It's been so nice. We went out and bought him all new action hero underwear (Superman, Hulk, Spiderman, Captain America, etc.) and he loves to pick out his favorite one to wear and then when he has a little uh-oh, he gets to pick out another pair. I wonder if he is doing uh-ohs on purpose?? Hmmmmm.

Now, let me explain what the uh-ohs are... it's when he runs to the potty because he knows that he has to go pee pee, but before he is able to pull them down, he gets just a tiny (as in the size of a dime) wet spot on his underwear. And he will not let you put those wet ones back on -- trust me -- he gets loud and yells that they are wet and wants another pair.

So, "pee pee" potty training has been ♫ won-der-ful! ♪

Poop, now that's a different story. He's scared to poop. Funny, he wasn't scared to poop in his diaper, but potty training is different and I guess somehow pooping in a diaper and having it sit on your hiney for however long is comforting rather than flushing it down the toilet right away. Whatever. I don't understand, but I didn't want to push him. I did, however, try to bribe him with money. Sadly, he could care less about that. So, I would give in and say, if you have to go poo poo, just tell Mommy and I'll go get you a diaper. Ha, that one didn't work either... which leads you to my next story...

Yesterday, little man is running around without underwear and as I was down the hall in my room, I hear him yell that he has to go poo poo! Of course, I'm all excited (yup, I said it, I was excited about poop!) and I run to him to try to convince him that pooping in the potty is cool and I say,

"Do you have to go poo poo?"

He replies, "I just did."

"Where {pause} did you go poo poo?"

"Uhhh, (he frequently says uhhh in front of every answer) in da liv-vin room."

"WHAT?! *ugh* Go get your hiney in the bathroom now! We go poo poo in the bathroom not on Mommy's living room floor."

(as he picks up his pace to the bathroom, poop falls off his hiney onto the floor just outside the bathroom)

Mommy was not in a good mood! Needless to say, I had to give him a little speech about poop and how it goes in the potty and then we can say bye bye to the poo poo as we flush.

Today, my daughter and my son were playing in the sink, which was filled with water. I didn't mind, as long as water was not cascading onto my floor. Shortly after I walk away (back down the hall to my room) my daughter yells, "He's going poo poo {long pause which makes me gasp} in the potty!!!!" I run, no, make that bolt to the bathroom to witness my son pooping in the potty! I was so happy that I think I screamed with joy! After I cleaned him up, I ran to my wallet grabbed a dollar bill, handed it to him and then picked up the phone and dialed my hubby. I gave my little man the phone so that he could tell Daddy exactly what he just did.

"Daddy! I just went poo poo..... in da potty!"

Daddy then asks, "Wow! Good job! I'm so proud of you! What did Mommy give you for going poo poo in the potty?"

His response, "Uhhh, a dolla."

"What? Wow... that's a lot of money just for poop!"

I'm so proud of my little boy! I really, truly hope that we have more successful poop in the potty experiences! {fingers crossed!}
