I like projects. It's true. I, especially, like to do projects when my husband is not home. Teehee. Not because I don't seek his approval (or maybe I do it anyway because then he can't say no -- no, that's not it!) but I do it for when he comes home that I might possibly get a reaction like, "Whoa! You did this while I was gone?!"
About a month ago, hubby started an 8 week program. My first thought was, YAY! Good for him. My second thought, *deep sigh* that means I have the kids day in and day out with no breaks but in the evenings when they go to bed. (waaa waaaa waaaaaaaaaaaa) and my third and brilliant thought was, hmmm, what project should I tackle while he's away.
This is where the fun, or chaos (I get those two mixed up very easily) kicks in. The first project was painting my daughter's room. It went from purple and green to pink and brown. The reason for the change was that I purchased a bedroom set for her on craigslist (at an amazing price of $75 - hold the applause!) and I felt that the set had a vintage feel to it and the purple and green colors on the wall just didn't fit with the style of furniture. So, out to Home Depot I went and picked up two gallons of paint, hid them in the back of my van (so that hubby wouldn't see that I made another purchase) and painted the day he left town!
When he came home, he loved it! I loved it, too!
The next project was painting the bathroom. Before it was a mustardy yellowish color that I really liked, but over the years, it kind of reminded me of baby poop and I'm dealing with toddler poop at the moment and didn't really want to see a poop color on the wall. Sounds really gross as I read this back to myself. Anyway, instead of purchasing another gallon of paint, I scoured the garage to see what leftover paint we had... a beautiful tealish blueish seafoamish color. And with the white bead board and this color on the walls... ahhh, I truly enjoy walking into this bathroom, flipping on the light switch and just staring at it. Oh, I'm serious, I would text my hubby and say, "I just love to stop and stare at the pretty bathroom."
The next project was going to be the kitchen, but it's been put on hold at the moment so I had to move on. *sad face*
Just yesterday, I finished up another project for my daughter's room. I found this really cool idea of taking a frame, rope, clothes pins and photos and displaying them in the frame. I wanted this, but I wasn't sure this style would work with my decor. I researched some more and came up with my spin on it and it works beautifully. I'm going to attach the photo tutorial that I created. I really love the idea that I can switch out the pictures whenever I feel like mixing it up!
Take a look!
I was never handed an instruction manual, so here you'll get a peek into what goes on in this foxy life.
Hmmm, what project should I do next?
