Now, I searched high and low all over pinterest for some sort of SAHM child daily schedule and came up empty handed. I know that pinterest isn't the greatest of search engines, but I was hopeful that some mom out there had some ultra fabulous idea and posted it somewhere for another mom to pin onto pinterest. Isn't that what all us pinners do? We pin fabulous ideas that we never thought of and must somehow work this fabulous idea into our lives. So, my attempt to find this idea was a failed one. Bummer!
I didn't give up. Not yet, at least. There has to be some schedule posted... somewhere.
Today, I was getting warmer. Today, I thought outside of the box and reached out to good ol' Google! I typed in these fancy words, "Day schedule for toddlers to do at home" and BAM, right there in my face after a click or two was this <you can insert that heavenly music... right about... now!>
7:00 a.m. - wake up
7:30 a.m. - get up, get dressed, have breakfast
8:30 a.m. - go for a walk
9:00 a.m. - play
10:00 a.m. - morning snack
12:00 p.m. - lunch
1:00 p.m. - afternoon nap
3:30 p.m. - afternoon snack
5:00 p.m. - dinner
6:30 p.m. - bath, stories
7:00 p.m. - bed
I am fully aware that there are gaps in this schedule, but it was a start. A good start. I just have to fill in the blanks, or research some more to figure out what to do after a morning snack and before lunch. Basically, what the sites that I visited said was that following a preschool schedule is highly recommended since the activities are short enough to stimulate your child and by the time you think they might be bored, you've already moved onto the next activity.
I know that this schedule is pretty basic. Yes, I wake up. Yes, I feed my kids. I do sometimes forget to feed myself (that's when that second cup of coffee confuses my stomach and thinks it's food and it fills me up and it's not until an hour later that I'm going -- shit, I didn't eat breakfast... again!) Yes, I let my kids snack (probably too often -- I do get a lot of "Mommy, can I have a blueberry snack? (that's what we call those gummy snacks, for whatever reason)" "Mommy, can I have more chocolate milk?" "Mommy, can I have a gorilla bar? (that's what we call granola bars in our house -- cute, right?)"
The one thing that we don't incorporate is a nap, but boy oh boy do my kids need one! I could use that quiet time, too! My neighbor, I mean, friend, lets her daughter have "quiet time" up in her room. She'll put a movie on for her (and a movie is all she is allowed to watch in her room during this time) and 9 times out of 10, her daughter falls asleep.
I'm envious and jealous. She also has the children who sleep in. Damn her and her sleeping kids. haha. Just kidding - she's an amazing mom and obviously, she's doing something that I should be doing.
Time for me to get a schedule up in here!
*please keep those fingers crossed for me that this scheduling thing works. Otherwise, I might as well become certifiably crazy.
