1.2.3.4 HIGH FIVE

Yesterday, my little girl turned five. FIVE! Where has the time gone?

When my daughter woke up in the morning, she found her door covered with purple balloons! Quickly, she ran to Mommy and Daddy's room and asked us why we taped balloons to her door. My response, "What are you talking about? I didn't put anything on your door."

To our surprise, our "Elf on the Shelf," whom we named, Oscar was found in the kitchen area sitting on top of our chalk board (which is hanging on the wall). In his hand he held a balloon (identical to the one taped on my daughter's door) and he had a note taped next to him that read, "Happy 5th Birthday to you. Love, Oscar the Elf"

C couldn't believe it! She asked why he blew up balloons and why he taped them to her door and why he wrote her a special birthday note. Why why why! Got to love inquisitive little children!

The opening of birthday presents shortly followed. Her expression was priceless! My son, who sat next to her at the counter kept shouting, "That's what you wanted! That's what you wanted!" Did I mention that this was priceless?!

Later in the day, we took the kids to a local park and let them run loose! They had a blast. They found sticks, ran through leaves, played on the playground(s), ignored Mommy when I tried to get them to sit still for the camera, etc. The only part that stunk about our park trip was that the kids were in dire need of a restroom to use. Poor kids did a pee-pee dance practically the entire time. Why do public parks lock public restrooms? Seriously?! It was an absolute gorgeous day with a ton of other families outside enjoying themselves and bathrooms were inaccessible! With that being said, our park trip was cut short.

That evening, the birthday girl asked if we could have her birthday dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings! Well, her first pick was McDonald's -- we quickly had that pick removed from the list! We love us some BWW!

All in all, a great day for the birthday girl (and the rest of the family, too!)
